Our mission is to make nursery design feel less overwhelming and more intentional, crafting spaces that are not only aesthetic, but also functional, safe, health-conscious, and grounded in the unique needs of both baby and mom.

Hi, I’m Megan Tabanfar.
I’m a Los Angeles-based interior designer and the founder of First Steps Interiors, where I create one-of-a-kind nursery spaces.
My love for design started early. Growing up, I was always rearranging my room, flipping through home magazines, and imagining ways to improve my surroundings. That fascination grew into a degree in interior design and experience in high-end residential projects.
When friends began growing their families, they turned to me for help with their nurseries. I quickly noticed how easily these rooms can get overlooked — with so much else to prepare for, the nursery often ends up overly themed, cluttered, or disconnected from the rest of the home.
I started First Steps Interiors to change that. I believe your baby’s room can feel just as elevated, intentional, and comforting as any other space in your home. Interior design is about more than just furniture and finishes. It’s about creating an environment that helps you feel grounded and uplifted.
